The Wedding of Mary and Joseph

One inch thick slab glass, cast into panels, which are then chipped and bound with cement. Both Matthew and Luke tell us that Mary and Joseph were betrothed at the time of the annunciation. Art has often portrayed their wedding as being blessed by a priest in front of the temple, as a solemn although not historical representation. The flowering staff shown by Joseph is in reference to the apocryphal legend of the Protoevangelium of James regarding the manner of his being chosen for Mary.
