This outer panel is paired with another panel of Mary’s parents, Joachim and Anne. Joachim and Joseph are in parallel positions to each other, as also are Mary and Anne. The two women bear halos, while the men do not. The small figure kneeling is the Cathedral Canon whose sponsorship financed the artwork.
